Since skived heat sinks are made from a single piece of material, such as copper or aluminum, additional interfacial resistance is common in other heat sink manufacturing processes, such as stamped or folded fins, which have thermal resistance using solder to connect the fins. The combination of this high aspect ratio thin fin with a thermally free interface results in optimal cooling performance in high airflow applications
